Cemetery
Policy
Cemetery spaces are considered a benefit of church membership
and if requested, are provided to all persons ion the church roll at a
stated non-refundable maintenance fee of $10.00 per space. All
maintenance fees must be paid upon issuance of indenture for interment.
The following paragraphs, A through D apply to
non-members:
A. Legally married spouse and dependent children
of Church Members will be provided Cemetery space upon request of
member.
B. Adult children, dependent parents or dependent
brothers and sisters living in the home of the person on the Church
roll, may obtain a Cemetery space at a maintenance fee set by the
Session.
C. Mother, father, sister, brother, or children
not living in the home of the person on the Church Roll, may obtain a
Cemetery Space at a maintenance fee set by the Session.
D. All other church connected relationships, not
mentioned above, will require Cemetery Committee consideration and upon
approval will require a maintenance fee as set by the Session.
E. Pastor is treated as a member
F. The Session will annually, at its January
Meeting, review these policies, make any changes deemed necessary and
establish the fees required for items B, C and D.
G. This policy will in no way rescind or
invalidate any previously assigned spaces. However, Indenture for
Interment will be issued for all spaces assigned. All new space
allocations will adhere to the aforementioned policy.

Cemetery
Procedures
Church Members may reserve Cemetery Space or Family Plots
in advance by contacting a member of the Cemetery Committee and selecting
space/spaces from remaining available spaces.
Reserved Cemetery Space or Family Plots require proper
identification with approved cemetery markers. Cornerstone should be
installed within 60 days of receipt of Indenture of Internment.
The Cemetery Committee will assign Cemetery Spaces
Maintenance fee and Indenture for Interment will be issued
by the Cemetery Committee.
A letter will be sent to former member for response to
forfeit Cemetery Space or desire to retain for fee and the response shall
be received within 90 days from date.
When Cemetery Space is needed, a member of the Cemetery
Committee shall go with the family to pick out the space.
A member of the Cemetery Committee shall go with the
funeral director to mark the grave.
One row at a time will be used, unless a Family Plot is in
use or has been reserved.
If Plot is beside another church member's family, member
is consulted before decision is made. If questions arise over space
assignment that cannot be resolved by the requesting party and the
Cemetery Committee, then they will be referred to the Session for
resolution.
If at anytime, a member who has previously reserved spaces
determines the spaces are no longer required, these spaces should be
reported to the Cemetery Committee for reassignment.
All moneys will be deposited in the Flat Branch Cemetery
Trust Fund and interest accrued will be applied to maintenance of the
Cemetery.
General Implementation: Funeral directors will be
responsible to clear all request with a Cemetery Committee Member.
No grave will be opened without prior approval of a member of the Cemetery
Committee. If no member of the Cemetery Committee is available, the
Pastor will be contacted.
A vault or graveliner is required for all burials.
Any mistakes caused by failure of Funeral Director to
follow this policy will be corrected at Funeral Director's expense.
The Church reserves the right to approve all monuments as
to type and inscription. No stone is to be put down without a
Cemetery Committee Member being present to ensure that the stone is being
aligned properly.
Deteriorated flowers will be removed.
To assist in grounds keeping, flowers should be placed on
top of monuments whenever possible. No shrubs, trees, etc. will be
planted in the Cemetery.
These procedures may be changed, whenever necessary, by
the Session and the Cemetery Committee will be notified.
