Interment
The Viewing
l Embalming l The Traditional Funeral
One does not have to think too long to recall scenes
of President Kennedy's funeral cortege as it traveled through the streets
of the nation's capital making it's way to Arlington National Cemetery. In
recent time we have all seen the procession of Princess Diana to her final
resting place. The funeral procession and committal service at the grave
site allow the family members to travel to the location that has been
designated as the final resting place. Usually a few words are spoken by
clergy and friends, the grave may be consecrated according to religious
customs, and family members are given a few moments to say their final
good-byes.
The site of the interment whether it is an in
ground burial or entombment in a mausoleum allows the family a place to
focus their memories of the deceased. This also gives them a place to
memorialize the deceased with a personalized monument to ensure that they
are not forgotten by future generations.
